
Sadhviji Addresses Millennium Alliance – Enterprise & Innovation
Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati ji gave a special address at The Millennium Alliance Award Ceremony and Innovation expo in Delhi on the 1st June, and blessed the awardees by saying, “We have a 4-I program: Information of what the challenges are facing our society today, Inspiration to do something to address the challenges, then Innovation and finally the crucial piece of Implementation! Today the Millennium Alliance is awarding your inspired innovations and now the implementation of these programs for humanity is in your hands. India is a country that believes in the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is a family).When we are talking about innovation and entrepreneurship in India, we are not talking merely about our business and profits, but rather we emphasize innovation and business that is beneficial for everyone.”
The Millennium Alliance (MA) is a consortium of partners including the Department of Science and Technology, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), FICCI, UKAID, ICCO Cooperation, World Bank Group and Facebook.
Thirty-six social enterprises representing sectors such as clean energy, agriculture, health, education, water and sanitation and disability from across India will receive the funding.In addition to funding, the initiative will provide the social entrepreneurs with support for capacity building, business development, investor-connect, networking and showcasing opportunities. Sadhviji distributed the awards with the other dignitaries on the dais.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Mr. Mark Anthony White, USAID Mission Director to India, said “The Millennium Alliance has provided so many insights on bringing together unique capabilities of each stakeholder – public and private, entrepreneurs and investors, government and bilateral agencies- and applying them to problems that once seemed insurmountable.”
Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji also said that the key for success in entrepreneurship is “Three C’s”: Creativity, Courage, and Connectivity, instead of Competition, and that you should assess your success on these three sources.”
Mr. Nirankar Saxena, Deputy Secretary General, FICCI stated, “The Millennium Alliance is a unique partnership that has continuously expanded over the last five years. The programme has supported over 112 social enterprises and has demonstrated that India is a hotbed of innovation. Our entrepreneurs are committed to address development challenges through innovative solutions impacting lives globally.”
