International Day of Peace 2019

On today’s International Day of Peace – a day set aside each year by the @unitednations as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples – it’s important to remember what peace really is and, more importantly, how we can create, maintain and expand it in the future. I spoke on this subject last year, at the “Keeping the Faith in Sustainable Peace: Women of Faith as Agents of Transformation” at the United Nations and organized by UNFPA KAICIID & European Union at the UN – New York. I shared the importance of #women in #peacebuilding & also that our definition of “peace” must expand to include not only the absence of conflict but also access to clean #water & #sanitation. Today, a year later, this is even more true.
