Why do We Resist The Light of Truth?

We say we want to live in the Light. We say we want to live in the Truth. Surprisingly, that’s just not the case. People, it seems, are almost preternaturally drawn to the opposite of both. Why? What is it that’s so compelling about darkness and falsehoods? It doesn’t make sense.
