How to receive Guru’s Grace?

Imagine that you’re in a dark room with the curtains drawn, praying for the sun. The sun is shining brightly outside, but inside – it’s dark. You’re doing Surya Namaskar, but you’re missing the sun. So, what do you do?

Well, you can always open the curtains.

It’s the same with the Guru. The light of the Guru – the term guru actually means “remover of darkness: Gu means darkness, and Ru means remover” – always shines. Whatever you’re doing, wherever you are, the Guru’s light still burns brightly. The only thing that keeps that light from removing your darkness is the curtain of Ego and Ignorance that blocks it from reaching you.
