What determines our destiny? Is everything written in advance or do we have free will? When is the “pre” of “pre-destined?”

It’s funny. We tend to think that destiny or pre-determination takes place somewhere in the skies thousands of years in advance with some divine being sitting at a desk, writing everything that’s going to happen to you and everyone else on the planet. That is not the case.
