Carnal Desires & Renunciation
There’s a misconception that, in order to become a renunciate, one must be free from all of the attractions and the desires that we renounce. In reality, to renounce we must recognize that we’re human, and that we have desires – but, that we are not those desires.
Becoming a renunciant – a sannyasi – means just one thing: Making a conscious decision to devote every moment of every day to getting closer to God, to serving God and to being a vehicle or a vessel for the divine will to flow. A decision to never be distracted from that goal by any of the attractions and desires that stand in the way of that beautiful commitment.
