Why Do We Choose Chaos and Discomfort?

Most of us realize that spiritual practices like meditation, yoga, prayer and satsang bring us joy and peace. If we had the option to live ONLY in a world of that bliss most of us would choose it. Why would we choose chaos if we could have peace? Why would we choose misery if we could have joy? But the problem is that we have SO many other people living in our head, making other choices. All the voices we hear, constantly yammering and chattering and criticizing in our minds. They stress us out and make us feel that we are just not good enough. So, how do we fix this? How do we quiet the voices and realize our inherent and innate enough-ness?

In this beautiful teaching from the Sacred Garden at Parmarth Niketan, Sadhviji reminds us that we aren’t any of the things that Maya or our parents or mass-marketing or social media say that we are – we are divine Spirit – and, that our spiritual practice is a sure way to always remember that!
