Happy Ganga Dussehra
Today on this sacred day of Ganga Dussehra, the day that Maa Ganga came onto earth, 25 years ago I took the sacred monastic vows of sanyas. I remember that morning, and the night before, so vividly, like it happened only yesterday. I stayed awake all night long, walking and meditating on the banks of Ganga. Then sitting on Her sacred banks in the early morning hours with @PujyaSwamiji and Pujya M.M. Swami Karshni Gurusharananandji Maharaj, being dipped over and over into Her waters with one vow after the next, one offering of surrender after the next. People think sanyas is about leaving things behind. But my experience is that it has been about receiving — receiving grace, receiving blessings, receiving joy and peace. I feel so beyond blessed on this day. Whether you are living in as a monk/nun or a householder, either way, on this sacred day allow yourself to let go of whatever attachments or expectations or false identities that are keeping you stuck and preventing you from living in peace. Offer them — literally or in your mind and heart — to the Mother Goddess Ganga, and let Her free you! .
