Diving into Gratitude

The New Year is such a beautiful opportunity to start anew, to go in new directions and to set intentions for the coming year. During the New Year’s retreat at Parmarth Niketan, someone asked Sadhviji what ONE practice she would recommend to implement. She said GRATITUDE. It is so easy to focus on what we have lost, what we think we’re lacking. But that attitude just brings more misery into our lives and perpetuates an experience of not-enoughness. Instead, if we can wake up each day and give thanks for all the blessings we have, we will find new joy, meaning and fullness in our lives. Many people think, “First I’ll get what I want, then I’ll be happy, then I’ll be grateful.” But actually it’s the opposite. Gratitude BRINGS joy. If your eyes open in the morning and you can see, if you have water coming out of a tap, if you have food on your table, if you are able to practice your religion (or to choose not to practice) freely, if you have access to medical care and education, realize that you are more fortunate than most on the planet.

In this talk on Gratitude Sadhviji takes us on a deep dive into the practice of gratitude. Sadhviji shares some of her personal experiences and lessons and some practical tools for beginning your very own practice of gratitude.
