If God is With Me Everywhere, Why Do People Go to Temple?
In this beautiful video Sadhviji gives sage wisdom to the question, “If God is with me everywhere, why do we need to go to temple?” This is a profound question that many of us may have asked ourselves at some point in our spiritual journey.
Sadhviji beautifully compares the need to go to temple with a child needing to study. As a parent, we understand that our child can study anywhere, but we know that the energy of a dormitory, with loud music and partying, is not conducive to focus and concentration. We guide our child to the library, where the energy is peaceful, quiet and conducive to study. Similarly, while we understand that God is with us everywhere, we are drawn to temple, where the energy is most conducive to connecting with the divine.
There is a sanctification that exists in the temple that doesn’t exist on the subway – sacred rituals and practices performed in the temple help us to access the power of the divine in a much easier way. The energy in temple is charged with the devotion of countless souls who have visited and prayed there, creating a powerful and uplifting atmosphere.
And lastly, we go to temple not because God benefits from our visit, but because we do. In the chaos and busyness of life, we may forget our connection with the divine. Visiting temple helps us to remember God, to reconnect with our true nature, and to find peace and solace in divine presence.
