Is Renunciation Necessary to Get Close to God?
So many people believe that renunciation – becoming a monastic renunciant, a monk or nun, a Swami or Sadhvi – is the only way to achieve and maintain a close relationship to God. People think that donning saffron robes or the habit of a monk or nun will transform minds immediately and free us of the struggle of the mind, bringing us into immediate union with God. But, is that true? Is monastic renunciation the only path for closeness to God? Is it the path we’re all supposed to walk?
In this uplifting video from the Divine Satsang, Sadhviji beautifully explains that saffron robes and renunciation don’t automatically provide us a connection to God – and, that they aren’t necessary to achieve it. Sharing from her own personal experience, she explains the most-important part of connecting to God. Watch here to discover what it is.
