What is Real Women’s Empowerment?

What a joy to address the women and girls (and also men) on International Women’s Day. We gathered many of the women, girls and youth we are working with in our Global Interfaith WASH Alliance and Divine Shakti Foundation with the United Nations (UNFPA) as well as so many local organizations, together with the Government of India and many branches of the Uttarakhand government, to celebrate this important day. However, it is easy to lose sight of what women’s empowerment really means. What’s the beginning and what is NOT the end? Also what can critical teachings and truths can women, themselves, hear and understand on this special day? I really hope you’ll listen to this entire video (it’s only 7 minutes!) because there are deeply important messages for 1) women & girls themselves and 2) everyone who lives in a family and everyone who works in a company, organization, corporation or community.
