Why Do We Mourn?

Death is the only guarantee about life! We all know that – eventually – we and our loved ones are going to die. It’s inevitable and, as much as we try not to think about it, we know it. Ours and our loved ones’ impending death is perhaps the hardest thing that we have to accept in life ~ even though we know it is definitely going to happen! Our own passing and mourning the passing of others is written indelibly into the tapestry of life. But, we tend to forget that we are not our bodies….we are divine spirit. That’s the highest truth of who we are. So, neither will the true essence of our Self ever die nor will the true essence of our loved ones ever die. They’re not really gone on the deepest level.

In this beautiful teaching, Sadhviji shares that by fully embracing the truth of who we are, we remember that there is no end and no beginning, and also, in connection to our human birth, we mourn the loss of loved ones. Because to mourn means that we have loved. And, love is a beautiful thing.
