Why Me?

Why Me?

Whenever difficulties arise in our lives we find ourselves frequently asking, “Why me?” Why did this happen to ME? Why did I get sick? Why did I lose my job? Why did my mother die? Why me? This is a very natural response to the inevitable array of challenges that occur during our earthly experience. We frequently feel like somehow the universe has specifically chosen US to be the recipients of loss and suffering. And, it’s easy also to blame ourselves whenever tragedy occurs and to feel like, somehow, we could have or should have done things differently to avert it.

But, as Sadhviji explains, it is so important to know that whatever happens – illness, loss, tragedy — is not a punishment by the Universe. Yes we are co-creators in this world and the seeds we plant are those which blossom and bear fruit in this life and the next, but ultimately everything that happens is given to us as the opportunity to grow spiritually and get closer to the Divine. Things happen. They happen to everyone. It’s what you do with what happens that matters.
