World Menstrual Hygiene Day!
Today is the United Nations Menstrual Hygiene Day! Yes, we have a beautiful day dedicated to making sure that menstruation is healthy and empowering for our sisters, mothers and daughters across the globe!
Menstruation is a process that over 50% of the world’s population experiences literally hundreds of times in their lifetimes. The average woman spends 7 full years menstruating! And, it’s also at the heart of women – of women’s empowerment, of women’s rights, of gender equality, of how women and girls perceive themselves, their bodies and their identities.
“So you can think about World Menstrual Hygiene Day,” shares Sadhviji in this beautiful message, “as World Women’s Empowerment Day!”
And, in this powerful and impactful video, Sadhviji explains just how important it is to understand that menstruation is actually about recognizing the presence of the Divine within, and that it is essential that we break the taboos and end the silence surrounding menstruation so that we can end the suffering that far too many women and girls experience due to shame and lack of access to both information as well as proper products.
Watch and let us celebrate World Women’s Empowerment Day together!
