Essence of Purity
Sadhvi Bhagawatiji explains that in the Indian spiritual tradition, there’s not the same sense of purity vs sin that exists in Judeo-Christian-Western traditions. There is no damnation or salvation, but rather liberation – freedom from that which is blocking our innate purity. She uses the example of the clay Buddha that, underneath, was made entirely of gold. The clay that hides our true nature is an accumulation of bad past experiences we hold onto, our pain and our anger. We just need to shed this in order to reveal the pure gold beneath.
