Satsang: Why is God Portrayed as Vengeful?

In tonight’s first question, a family member living abroad wants to know why so many religions paint God as a vengeful being, bent on punishment. In response, Sadhviji shares that it’s the easiest way to get people to obey…the best way to control and to get them to do what we want them to do!

Then, a family member in the Sacred Garden shares that the longer she is on her spiritual path, the more she avoids the people that have been a part of her life for a long time. Sadhviji shares that it’s our internal sense of right-self that we need to honour, and as we progress on our path that sense of self changes – and, so do our friends and family and environment!

Next, a member of our Spiritual Retreat lets us know that he comes from a Brahmin family, and has been on a spiritual path for over 40 years. While his life is truly blessed, he finds more things to be afraid of. His anxiety prevents him from sleeping, he’s afraid to be away from home, afraid to fly…afraid to die. His love for God is there, but he’s unable to focus on Him. Sadhviji shares that many of his fears are “normal,” but for the irrational fear that is debilitating – that’s an issue because it’s interfering with his life.
