Happy Dussehra Conquering Darkness With LIght
On this sacred day of Dussehra, we celebrate the great victory of Bhagawan Rama over the demon King Ravana. This represents not only a glorious moment of time in our spiritual history, but it also represents the universal, timeless conquering of darkness by light, of adharma by dharma, of anger, greed, lust and ego by goodness. What made Ravana (a great Vedic scholar) so demonic was this ego, lust, greed, arrogance and craving for power. He represents what happens when we let our vices take over our virtue. So on this day that we celebrate the vanquishing of Ravana by Bhagawan Rama, let us ask ourselves if we can conquer the inner Ravana, within each of us. Can we open our hearts to the presence of the Divine, to the presence of Bhagawan Rama within us, and let go of our own anger, lust, greed, pride, envy and delusion? Let us open our hearts to the Divine so that goodness & dharma may always be victorious within us and we can be vehicles of peace in the world.
