What’s Wrong With These Kids Today?

So many people come to me complaining about their kids. “I would never have talked to my parents like that” is the most common complaint. “What’s wrong with them?” The short answer is: NOTHING at all!

I know that it’s hard to be a parent. You give so much to your children and do so much for them to make sure that they have a good life – and, then you watch them make wrong choices, no matter how much guidance you’ve given them. It is, understandably, frustrating.

But, as Sadhviji so beautifully explains, our duty is not to turn peach seeds into apple seeds! It’s to honour and support our children no matter what choices they make – no matter what may sprout out of the seeds the Universe and their own karmic journey have planted in them. You really only have two choices, Sadhviji says: You can love your child unconditionally, no matter what their choices are (note that this does mean you have to approve of or support all their decisions! you just have to keep loving them). Or, you can forgo ever having a meaningful relationship – or, any relationship at all – with them.
