Addiction Is a Spiritual Path Gone Awry
Addiction is NOT something to be ashamed of, and addicts are not people who are weak or bad or wrong or shameful. We have tragically misunderstood addiction and created an environment where addicts feel shame for their weakness. This is a tragic misunderstanding. Addiction is actually a spiritual quest which has gone awry. Addiction tends to happen because we are suffering in our minute-to-minute existence — with anger, frustration, regret, pain — and we’re looking for a way out. Now, obviously, addiction is not an effective or skillful way out as it doesn’t actually work and just makes our present situation worse. BUT the yearning to not be frustrated, angry, regretful or suffering is actually a deep spiritual yearning and one which should be honored and heeded.
In this powerful Life Lesson, Sadhviji offers us insights into that solution, and beautifully shares the true source of joy and peace in our lives that will provide the way-out – without the hang-over!
