Maha Shivratri: The Full Explanation of the Celebration
In a throwback to a pre-covid International Yoga Festival of 2019 in which Maha Shivratri auspiciously fell on one of the days of the yoga festival – Shivratri is determined by the lunar calendar not the solar calendar, so it changes every year, Sadhviji, in the presence of Pujya Swamiji and other honored guests, shared with all of the participants the significance of MahaShivratri, “the Great Night of Shiva”, as an opportunity to go within and to transform ourselves.
The energy of Lord Shiva is that of the Destroyer of all of that stands in the way of us knowing the Truth of Who We are. The destruction he represents is not negative. It is the destruction of the ego, the illusion, the ignorance, the separation from Divine Truth so that we can loosen the cords that keep us stuck washes away. And as the night becomes morning we emerge new and the cycle of creation continues from untrue to true, from death to immortality.
Bathe in the nectar of Truth through her reflections, as she urges you to introspect, evolve and unite with the Creator!
